WINE & DINE CRUISING
WHY YOU SHOULD GO
Experience the rich culture, wine and gourmet heritage of the Bordeaux Region on a luxury river cruise. Cruise Bordeaux’s three majestic waterways, the Dordogne, Garonne and the Girdone. Delight in the pleasant French villages, towns and cities perched on their banks
RIVER OF WINE
Take in the sights along the Gironde Estuary, which cuts through the rolling countryside and alongside the historic vineyards of Aquitaine. Disembark in Pauillac and travel through the famous Médoc wine region. On a visit to a family-owned cooperage, see how wooden wine barrels are made and learn the secrets of this time-honoured craft before a wine tasting in Ludon. Step ashore to discover the town of Blaye and journey to Cognac for a tasting at Château de Cognac, a French Cognac House founded in 1795.
Alight in Libourne and travel to World Heritage-listed Saint-Émilion. Head beneath the village with a local guide to Cordeliers Cloister, where you’ll explore its remarkable network of cellars and tunnels that stretch for three kilometres under Saint-Émilion. The owners, Les Cordeliers, have been using these underground passages to make and age their exclusive sparkling wines since the 19th century. Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and a selection of Saint-Émilion’s traditional macaroons.
Discover the charming Bergerac Old Town, with its white stone buildings and vivid flowerbeds, as you stroll past tree-lined squares, pleasant timber frame houses and well-preserved buildings. Or perhaps visit Libourne, for a caviar estate tour and tasting.
